ll Museo del ricamo su tulle di Panicale è stato dedicato alla ideatrice del ricamo
Ars Panicalensis ® Anita Belleschi Grifoni con sede in Pizza
regina Margherita nella Chiesa di S. Agostino. Prima di essere
trasformata in museo, la Chiesa, anche se mai sconsacrata, era
da decenni abbandonata e utilizzata per gli usi più svariati, da
laboratorio artigiano per la costruzione di manufatti in cemento
al più recente uso di locale destinato a mostre occasionali
durante manifestazioni paesane.
E' stato così che
l‘Amministrazione Comunale guidata dall’allora Sindaco Daniele
E. Orlandi ha avuto l’idea di recuperare i locali della Chiesa
per destinarli a sede del museo del ricamo su tulle, una delle
arti manuali che negli anni 50 grazie all’iniziativa della
Sig.ra Anita Belleschi Grifoni con la sua scuola di ricamo diede
si lustro e fama al paese, ma soprattutto ebbe un’importanza
altamente sociale sostenendo economicamente molte donne e
famiglie che nell’immediato dopo guerra avevano necessità di
sostegni economici. Iniziò così un lungo lavoro di ricerca di
ricami antichi che ancora potevano essere recuperati presso le
famiglie del paese ma soprattutto all’interno delle Chiese della
zona.
Dopo alcuni mesi di intenso lavoro, gli incaricati del
Comune, tra i quali Paola Matteucci, riuscirono a recuperare una
grande quantità di materiale che oggi (solo in parte) è esposta
nelle bacheche del museo. Nel 2001 dopo il restauro della Chiesa
e mesi di ricerca il museo venne inaugurato e aperto al
pubblico. La visita al museo è oggi gestita dall’ufficio
informazioni turistiche con sede in Panicale Piazza Umberto I°.

The Museum of Embroidery on tulle
The Panicale Embroidery Museum on tulle was dedicated to the creator of embroidery Anita Belleschi Grifoni based in Pizza Regina Margherita in the Church of S. Agostino.
Before being transformed into a museum, the Church, although never deconsecrated, had been abandoned for decades and used for the most varied uses, from an artisan laboratory for the construction of concrete artifacts to the more recent use of a room intended for occasional exhibitions during village events.
It was thus that the Municipal Administration led by the then Mayor Daniele E. Orlandi had the idea of recovering the premises of the Church to use them as the seat of the museum of embroidery on tulle, one of the manual arts that in the 50s thanks to the initiative of Mrs. Anita Belleschi Grifoni with her school of embroidery gave prestige and fame to the town, but above all it had a highly social importance by economically supporting many women and families who needed financial support immediately after the war.
Thus began a long work of research of ancient embroideries that could still be recovered from the families of the town but above all within the churches of the area. After a few months of intense work, the people in charge of the Municipality, including Paola Matteucci, managed to recover a large amount of material that today (only in part) is exhibited in the museum's showcases.
In 2001, after the restoration of the Church and months of research, the museum was inaugurated and opened to the public.
